Morning Conversation with Cuyahoga County Councilwoman and Democratic Party Chair Shontel Brown

Shontel Brown Greater Cleveland Partnership members are invited to a Morning Conversation with Cuyahoga County Councilwoman & Democratic Party Chair Shontel Brown.  

Ms. Brown serves as the Council Representative for district 9 – encompassing Shaker Heights, Pepper Pike, Orange, Highland Heights, North Randall, Bedford Heights, Bedford and parts of Cleveland.  Brown previously served on the Warrensville Heights City Council for three years.  She was elected Chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party in August of 2017.

Prior to entering politics, Ms. Brown established a printing and promotions company called Diversified Digital Solutions that supports small to mid-size businesses with their marketing needs. 

Ms. Brown earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Cuyahoga Community College and volunteers as a Youth Ministry Leader at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Northeast Ohio has been identified as a possible location for the Apprenti model to be implemented. Promote Transparency and Awareness of Diversity Policies

The 2008 financial crisis caused widespread hardship to consumers and the financial services industry. Communities of color were disproportionately impacted both as consumers and employees of financial services companies. Likewise, large institutions’ efforts to utilize women-owned and minority-owned businesses decreased significantly during the economic downturn. Because of this, Section 342 of Dodd-Frank was created in 2010.

REI’s Groundwater Training is an introduction to racial equity using stories and data to present a perspective that racism is fundamentally structural in nature and that, as such, not everyone is benefiting from our region’s growth and prosperity. This training is part of a multiyear community-wide awareness-building campaign—led by Cleveland Neighborhood Progress—to increase our region’s shared understanding of the ties between racial equity and economic development.

Morning Conversation: State Senator Larry Obhof
