Save the Date!

Save the date for our 10th Annual Inclusion Conference, which has been scheduled for Aug. 23, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. This year’s working title is “Collective Action: Speaking our truth, living our values, and advancing inclusion.” This concept merges the notion that it is the responsibility of leaders AND employees to advance equity and inclusion. Certainly, CEO action is imperative in creating an inclusive culture; equally, every employee, every department plays a major role in carrying out the vision.

Our theme will follow on the message Tim Ryan, U.S. chairman and senior partner at PwC,  delivered during the March 2018 CEO Forum that focused on the impact race-based events in our nation are having on businesses. The decisions that leaders are making whether to speak out, to act, to tend to the well-being of their employees, to live their organizations’ espoused values, and whether to allow their employees to stay true to their own.

The Inclusion Conference has grown in both size and stature over the years and past highlights include the talk that Harvard professor Mahzarin Banaji gave when she came to Cleveland in 2016. She effectively demonstrated how even the most well-intentioned people unwittingly allow unconscious thoughts and feelings to influence seemingly objective decisions. Last year the theme of bias continued as national and international experts dove deeper into the concept of bias, specifically related to attracting and selecting top talent.
