In this session, we will explore and describe how the IoT is transforming businesses in various industries and discuss approaches to incorporating the IoT into your business strategy.  The panel will discuss methods of how the IoT can be implemented along with providing guidelines and direction.

Over 35 years of startups, IT and healthcare information systems experience, respected authority in healthcare informatics and industry spokesperson. Founder of IoT Directions, which is focused on education on the Internet of Things through event management services and media content. President of Paguar Informatics Inc., healthcare IT consulting firm focused on innovation and business development. CEO and Co-Founder at DinkerBop which makes a simple radio for people living with dementia.  John previously managed operation and logistics at the HIMSS Innovation Center in the Global Center for Health Innovation in Cleveland. Senior Product Manager at Applied Visual Sciences Inc. for radiology informatics, imaging, computer-aided detection, advanced visualization and digital microscopy. Co-founder of RIS Logic, Inc., a division of Merge Healthcare recently acquired by IBM.



Lawrence Voyten, President, IoT Directions

As a senior healthcare business executive with 40 years of diverse experience, worked with senior leadership in healthcare consulting, business expansion and information technology program development.  This includes a deep background in healthcare provider operations for both primary care and specialty care physicians.  Strong skill set project management, project startup and Project Management Office operations.

Skilled working with senior level management in defining business drivers then matching strategy with tactical objectives and delivering measurable results.  This includes market transformation to pay for performance on multiple levels such as technology, metrics and provider transitioning.  Background in working with local, regional and large Integrated Delivery Networks with operations improvement, information technology implementation, community market expansion and population health initiatives 


Mike Maczuzak, CEO and Founder, smartshape

Paula Timco, Chief Strategy Officer, nuboHEALTH

Paula Timco is a founding partner of nuboHEALTH and serves as the Chief Strategy Officer. Paula oversees the development, communication, execution, and sustainment of strategic initiatives.  Paula’s 20+ years of experience in healthcare operations with previous senior level positions at the Cleveland Clinic and management positions at University Hospitals Health System has provided her with operational expertise and clinical workflow knowledge critical to our clients. 

Paula received her MBA and BA in Finance & Marketing from Baldwin Wallace College and is accredited in Lean/Six Sigma, EDAC and LEED.


Anthony Crimaldi, Sr. Director Marketing & Technology, Avantia

Tony Crimaldi currently serves Sr. Director Marketing & Technology for Avantia, where he is playing the role of integrative problem solver*. He works with clients to identify challenges and opportunities, and then engages the Avantia team to develop and deliver solutions.

Previously, in his role of Digital Marketing Manager for Cleveland Clinic, Tony grew the Mobile group from the ground-up and oversaw the enterprise-wide consumer-facing mobile strategy and development, including apps & web. In addition, Tony founded and managed the Cleveland Clinic Mobile Center of Excellence, which is a multi-disciplinary group of experts whose goal is to provide consultation and guidance for all marketing, clinical and enterprise mobile initiatives. As a member of the Distance Health and Wayfinding committees, Tony helped to guide strategy and tactics which ensured a positive consumer experience.

Bob Scaccia, President and CEO, USA Firmware

Bob Scaccia, is President and CEO of USA Firmware; a fast growing consulting firm in Brecksville, Ohio. USA Firmware Corporation provides IoT and Embedded Systems subject matter expertise and design services to manufacturers in NEO. Bob has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont and over 30 years of product development experience. 

Bob is a member of the Northeast Ohio Angel Fund’s Innovation Committee, TeamNEO’s Smart Devices Steering Committee and Cleveland+ IIoT Advisory Council. Bob has seen a steady growth year over year of firms embracing IoT as well as trying to manage the complications of transforming their business models during this time of IoT centered disruption.



YennieEd Yenni, Founder and President, LogiSync LLC

Ed Yenni is the founder and president of LogiSync LLC, located in Avon, OH.  LogiSync provides embedded IoT hardware and software solutions to leading OEMs in multiple industries that enable equipment, sensors, and devices to communicate and be remotely monitored and controlled.  Many of LogiSync’s designs are industry-firsts that progress to full-scale manufacturing and deployment.

Prior to founding LogiSync in 1993, Ed spent sixteen years working in the aerospace, defense, and medical electronics fields, primarily with Rockwell International.  During this time he performed lead roles in systems and project engineering on high-profile programs such as the Fast Time Acoustic Analysis Sonar System, and the International Space Station Program.  Over the course of his career, Ed has received numerous awards such as the coveted Manned Flight Awareness Award, NASA’s highest form of civilian recognition, the Rockwell Autonetics Engineering Excellence Award, and the Lorain County Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2012.

Ed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering from the Ohio Institute of Technology, and has taken graduate level coursework through the University of Southern California.
