Academies of Cleveland The Academies of Cleveland (AoC) is an approach to college and career readiness for students in five Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) high schools: Garrett Morgan, Jane Addams Business Careers Center, Martin Luther King Jr., Max S. Hayes, and Washington Park Environmental Studies. Each school focuses on career pathways from a variety of industries that drive economic growth in our community. The AoC schools work to ensure that young people are prepared to learn for a lifetime, thrive in tomorrow’s dynamic workplaces, and contribute to Cleveland’s economic and civic prosperity. Based on the Ford Next Generation Learning framework, the AoC schools provide high quality academic and career options to the children of Cleveland that will lead to higher graduation rates and expanded opportunities for entering the world of work. How you can get involved The business community is an essential component to ensure that we are preparing our youth for future career opportunities. Your participation in experiential learning activities will help teach students about specific career pathways so that they will make more informed decisions about their future careers. Our goal is for every student to participate in at least one experiential learning activity each year. Your involvement can help students develop knowledge, skills, and character from experiences inside and outside the classroom. Click here to learn more. Learn more. AoC in action Check out this CMSD video about the first Career Experience Fair where 20 local companies connected with CMSD ninth graders. The students learned about career and college opportunities and how to find their passion and turn it into a career path.
