On March 14-15, the Great Lakes Metro Chambers Coalition (GLMCC), a collective of chambers of commerce across the Great Lakes region, visited Washington D.C. for its annual D.C. Fly-In. GCP is a founding member of the GLMCC and currently leads the coalition’s efforts. This year’s convening was co-hosted by U.S. Representatives Marcy Kaptur and Dave Joyce. GLMCC representatives from fourteen different chambers and advocacy organizations represented the region, meeting with over fifteen Members of Congress, White House officials, and subject-matter experts.

Over the course of two days, the GLMCC discussed and advocated for its 2019 Public Policy Priorities, including investing in transportation infrastructure, attracting and retaining talent through immigration reform, increasing funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, and implementing thoughtful and balanced trade policies. The Coalition, which represents more than 60,000 business of all sizes, provided invaluable feedback to elected officials looking to better understand the needs of companies throughout the Great Lakes region.
